The Influence of Example

OPENING PRAYER:

Lord, as we reflect on the power of our example, help us to live lives that reflect Your love and truth. May our actions speak louder than our words. Amen.

READ: 1 Corinthians 11:1 (NIV)

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

1 Corinthians 11:1 (NIV)

REFLECT:

Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 11:1 encourages the Corinthians to follow his example as he follows the example of Christ, highlighting the importance of living a life that others can emulate. It challenge me to consider the example I am setting for my children and those around me. "Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ" is a powerful reminder that my actions speak louder than my words. My children are constantly observing how I live out my faith, and they are more likely to emulate what they see than what they hear.

Living a Christ-like life involves demonstrating patience, kindness, forgiveness, and integrity. It means being consistent in my faith, even in challenging situations. When I model these qualities, I provide a tangible example of what it means to follow Christ. This consistency helps my children understand that faith is not just a set of beliefs but a way of life.

APPLY:

However, I am not perfect, and there will be times when I fall short. When this happens, acknowledging my mistakes and seeking forgiveness can also be a powerful example. It shows my children that humility and reliance on God's grace are essential aspects of the Christian life. By being transparent about my struggles and my need for God's help, I teach them that faith is a journey, not a destination.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will have a five-minute intentional conversation with the kid in my life.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Father, help us to live lives that reflect Your love and truth. May our example inspire others to follow You, and may we always seek to grow in Christ-likeness. Amen.
