Trusting God with the Outcome
OPENING PRAYER:
Dear Lord, as we conclude this devotional journey, help us to trust You with the outcomes of our efforts. Strengthen our faith and guide us in Your ways. Amen.
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)
REFLECT:
Proverbs 22:6 offers both encouragement and a challenge: "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." This verse reminds me of the importance of early spiritual training and the long-term impact it can have on my children. It encourages me to be diligent in teaching them God's ways and guiding them in making wise choices.
However, I also recognize that this proverb is not a guarantee but a general principle. Each child has free will and may make choices that deviate from their upbringing. As a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, someone who has influence in a child's life, our role is to faithfully plant the seeds of faith and trust God with the outcome. This means releasing our anxieties and fears about our children's future and believing that God is at work in their lives.
APPLY:
Trusting God with the outcome involves prayer, patience, and perseverance. It means continuing to be a positive influence and offering support, even when my children make mistakes. By entrusting my children to God's care, I acknowledge that He is ultimately in control and that His plans for them are good.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will have a five-minute intentional conversation with the kid in my life.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Lord, we trust You with the outcome of our efforts to train and guide the children in our lives. Strengthen our faith and help us to be consistent in our teaching and example. We entrust our children to Your loving care. Amen.
