Carrying the Load
OPENING PRAYER:
Lord, as we learn about carrying the burdens of others, help us to understand the strength and compassion that comes from You. May we be willing to bear the loads of those around us, just as Jesus bore ours. Amen.
Then he said to them, 'My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.' Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, 'My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.'"
Matthew 26:38-39 (NIV)
REFLECT:
In this scripture passage, we see Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, overwhelmed with sorrow as He prepares to take on the sins of the world. His prayer reveals the immense burden He was about to carry, a burden that no one else could bear. Despite His anguish, Jesus submitted to the Father's will, demonstrating His willingness to carry the load for humanity's salvation.
In Rodney’s message, he highlights that great leaders carry the load others cannot. Jesus' willingness to bear the weight of sin and death is the ultimate example of this. In our lives, we are often faced with burdens that seem too heavy to bear, whether they are our own or those of others. Jesus' example teaches us that we are not alone in these moments; He is with us, providing the strength and grace we need to carry on.
As we reflect on this, we are reminded of the importance of community and support. We are called to bear one another's burdens, to be there for each other in times of need. This requires empathy, compassion, and a willingness to step into the struggles of others. By doing so, we reflect the love and sacrifice of Jesus, who carried the ultimate burden for us.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will follow the Greatest Of All Time this week, and it's Jesus.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Father, thank You for the example of Jesus, who carried the burden of our sins. Help us to be willing to bear the burdens of others, offering support and love in their time of need. May we reflect Your compassion and grace in all we do. Amen.
