The Harvest Awaits: Will You Answer?

OPENING PRAYER:

Gracious God, stir our hearts to see the harvest fields around us and give us the courage to step out in faith, trusting in Your provision and guidance.

READ: Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV)

"Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'"

Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV)

REFLECT:

The imagery of the harvest is rich with meaning and urgency. In the message, Pastor Carter emphasized the joy and responsibility of being part of God's harvest. Just as a farmer eagerly anticipates the harvest season, we are called to be active participants in God's mission, bringing in the spiritual harvest of souls.

Jesus' words highlight a critical need: the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. This is not just a call to prayer but a call to action. Todd shared how Jesus, after instructing His disciples to pray for workers, immediately sent them out. This dual call to pray and go is a reminder that we are both the answer to our prayers and the workers in the field.

The story of Jessica Petrick illustrates this beautifully. Her willingness to engage with those around her, to listen and share the love of Christ, led to a ripple effect of transformation. Her story challenges us to consider our own role in the harvest. Are we willing to step out, to engage with those God places in our path, and to share the hope we have in Christ?

The harvest awaits, and the opportunity is great. Let us not be content to stand on the sidelines but to actively participate in God's mission. As we do, we will experience the joy of seeing lives transformed and the kingdom of God expanded.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will write an "I Will" statement that captures my personal commitment to embody the principles of going, seeing, feeling, asking, and praying in my life. I will remind myself that my willingness to go and show compassion can be the light that guides someone out of darkness and into the hope of Christ.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Lord, thank You for inviting us to be part of Your harvest. Equip us with the courage and wisdom to step out in faith, trusting that You will guide and provide. May we see the fruit of our labor and rejoice in Your goodness. Amen.
