Finding Rest In God
OPENING PRAYER:
Loving Father, as we enter into our time of reflection, we ask that you quiet our hearts and minds. May your Spirit guide us as we seek to find true rest in you. Open our eyes to recognize the peace that surpasses all understanding, which can only be found in your presence. Amen.
Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
Psalm 62:1-2
REFLECT:
This passage reminds us that true rest and peace can only be found in God. He is our rock and salvation, a refuge where we can find rest for our souls. In a world filled with busyness, stress, and constant distractions, finding true rest can be elusive. However, God invites us to rest in Him and find refuge for our weary souls. This rest is not merely physical; it is a deep spiritual rest that comes from trusting in God's sovereign care. When we rest in God, we acknowledge our dependence on Him and surrender control. We find comfort and peace in His presence, knowing that He is orchestrating all things for our good. Rather than striving to find rest through our own efforts, we can find solace in the unchanging nature of God and the assurance that He is with us, guiding and sustaining us in every season of life.
APPLY:
Today, intentionally create space for silence and solitude in your day. Set aside time to be still in God's presence, to meditate on His faithfulness and goodness. Practice surrendering control and finding rest in Him. Allow His peace to envelop you, and trust that He is actively working in your life, even amidst the busyness and challenges.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will divert time every day this week to be with Jesus.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Gracious God, we thank you for the invitation to find true rest in you. Help us to release the burdens we carry and surrender control to your loving care. May we continually seek your presence and find solace in knowing that you are our rock and refuge. Grant us the peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus' name, amen.
