Overcoming Fear of Rejection
OPENING PRAYER:
Dear Lord, as I come before You today, help me to overcome my fear of rejection. Give me the courage to share Your message with others, trusting in Your presence and guidance. Amen.
"But Moses pleaded with the Lord, 'O Lord, I'm not very good with words. I never have been, and I'm not now, even though You have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.' Then the Lord asked Moses, 'Who makes a person's mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.'"
Exodus 4:10-12 (NIV)
REFLECT:
In this passage, Moses expresses his fear of inadequacy in speaking. He worries that his lack of eloquence will hinder his ability to convey God's message effectively. God's response is a powerful reminder of His sovereignty and provision. He reassures Moses that He is the one who created his mouth and will be with him as he speaks, providing the words and guidance needed.
This interaction highlights a common fear many of us face: the fear of rejection or inadequacy when sharing our faith. We worry that we won't have the right words or that others will dismiss or reject our message. However, God's assurance to Moses is the same for us today. He is with us, guiding our words and actions, and His presence is what ultimately matters.
Reflecting on my own life, I can recall moments when I hesitated to share my faith due to fear of rejection or inadequacy. However, when I trusted in God's presence and guidance, I found that He provided the words and opportunities needed. It's a reminder that sharing our faith is not about our abilities but about our willingness to be used by God.
