How Do You Work When No One is Watching?

OPENING PRAYER:

Dear Lord, as we delve into Your Word today, teach us the importance of integrity in our work. May Your Spirit guide us to live out our faith in every aspect of our lives. Amen.

READ: Titus 2:9-10 (NLT)

"Slaves must always obey their masters and do their best to please them. They must not talk back or steal, but must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy and good. Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way."Slaves must always obey their masters and do their best to please them. They must not talk back or steal, but must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy and good. Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way."

Titus 2:9-10 (NLT)

REFLECT:

Paul’s instructions to slaves in Titus 2:9-10 highlight the importance of integrity and trustworthiness. Although the context is different today, the principles remain relevant. We are called to be honest, respectful, and reliable in our workplaces, reflecting the character of Christ. Integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. It’s about being consistent in our actions and words, ensuring that our behavior aligns with our beliefs. This can be challenging, especially in environments where cutting corners or unethical behavior is common. However, as followers of Christ, we are called to a higher standard. Consider the example of Uncle Bob, who ensured every grain was accounted for, even when it seemed insignificant. His actions were a reflection of his integrity and his commitment to doing what was right. Similarly, our actions, no matter how small, can demonstrate our integrity and faithfulness to God. Reflect on your own actions at work. Are there areas where you can improve your integrity? Are there situations where you’ve been tempted to cut corners or compromise your values? How can you ensure that your actions reflect your commitment to Christ?

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will work as if I’m working for God this week.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Lord, help me to be a person of integrity in my workplace. Give me the strength to do what is right, even when it’s difficult. May my actions reflect Your character and draw others to You. Amen.
