Love in All Things

OPENING PRAYER:

Father, as we delve into the theme of love, open our hearts to understand its importance in all our interactions. Help us to embody Your love in every aspect of our lives. Amen.

READ: John 13:34-35 (NLT)

I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.”

John 13:34-35 (NLT)

REFLECT:

In this passage, Jesus gives His disciples a new commandment to love one another He has loved them. It’s both simple and profound. It is simple in its clarity—love one another as Jesus has loved us. Yet, it is profound in its implications and the depth of love it requires. Jesus' love for His disciples was sacrificial, selfless, and unconditional. He demonstrated this love by washing their feet, serving them, and ultimately laying down His life for them.

This commandment is not just a suggestion but a defining characteristic of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. The love we show to one another is a powerful testimony to the world. It is through this love that people will recognize us as followers of Christ. This love transcends differences, heals divisions, and unites us in a way that nothing else can.

Reflect on how you can embody this love in your daily life. Are there areas where you struggle to love others as Jesus has loved you? Consider the relationships and interactions where you can demonstrate this sacrificial, selfless love. Remember that this love is not based on feelings but on a commitment to act in the best interest of others, even when it is difficult.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will seek Christ’s unity by engaging a relationship that has shifted from disagreeing to disagreeable.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your sacrificial love. Help us to love one another as You have loved us. May our love be a testimony to the world of Your grace and truth. Empower us to live out this commandment in all our interactions. Amen.
