The Heart of God

OPENING PRAYER:

Lord, as we come to the end of our week and this devotional journey, open our hearts to Your love and compassion. May we be inspired to reflect Your heart in all we do, bringing hope and healing to those in need. Amen.

READ: Psalms 68:5-6 (NLT)

"Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. But for rebels, there is only famine and distress."

Psalms 68:5-6 (NLT)

REFLECT:

Psalms 68:5-6 beautifully captures the heart of God for the vulnerable and marginalized. The message emphasized God's call for us to care for the fatherless and those in need, reflecting His heart in our actions. This passage reminds us that God is a father to the fatherless and a defender of widows, setting the lonely in families and bringing freedom and joy to those in need.

We are being challenged by this passage to consider how we can reflect God's heart in our own lives. It is not enough to simply believe in God's love and compassion; we are called to embody it in our actions. This means being willing to step into difficult and challenging situations for the sake of others, just as God does for us.

In the context of the foster care crisis, this means being willing to open our homes and hearts to those in need. It may involve fostering a child, supporting a foster family, or advocating for systemic change. Whatever form it takes, we are called to be instruments of God's love and grace in the world, bringing hope and healing to those in need.

We must ask ourselves how we can reflect God's heart in our own lives. It may involve stepping out of our comfort zones, taking risks, and trusting God to guide us. As we do so, we become instruments of His love and grace in the world, bringing hope and healing to those in need.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will pick one way to be a part of God's solution to the foster care crisis in our community.

Pastor Hutchison offered everyone the opportunity to come to a meeting or a training on October 13 at 6pm to learn more about how you can get involved to make a difference. Find out more by going to pathwaychurch.com/fostercare

CLOSING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder of Your heart for the vulnerable and marginalized. Help us to reflect Your love and compassion in our actions, bringing hope and healing to those in need. Guide us as we seek to be part of the solution in our communities. Amen.
