Prioritizing God First
OPENING PRAYER:
Gracious God, as we seek to reorder our lives according to Your will, grant us the wisdom to place You at the center of all we do. May our hearts be open to Your leading today. Amen.
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
This verse is part of Jesus' Message on the Mount, where He teaches about the priorities of a life devoted to God.
Matthew 6:33
REFLECT:
In his message, Pastor Carter shared the story of Bill Bequette, the Micro-Campus Director at the Sedgwick County Jail. Bill emphasized the importance of prioritizing God above all else. He shared a personal journey of realizing that success and material gain do not equate to true happiness. This realization led to a reordering of priorities: God first, family second, and career third. Matthew 6:33 encapsulates this principle by urging us to seek God's kingdom and righteousness as our primary focus.
In a world that often measures success by wealth and status, this teaching challenges us to redefine what it means to live a fulfilled life. Seeking God's kingdom first means aligning our desires and actions with His will. It involves trusting that when we prioritize our relationship with Him, He will provide for our needs.
This reordering is not just about external actions but an internal transformation. It requires a shift in mindset, where we view our time, resources, and relationships through the lens of God's purposes. The message invites us to examine our own lives and consider whether our priorities reflect our faith. Are we truly seeking God's kingdom first, or are we allowing other pursuits to take precedence?
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will take a bold risk as I make my commitment to All Things New.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Father, help us to seek Your kingdom above all else. May our lives reflect Your priorities, and may we trust in Your provision as we align our hearts with Yours. Thank You for guiding us on this journey. Amen.
