Living Generously
OPENING PRAYER:
Lord, as we explore the call to live generously, open our hearts to the needs around us. Teach us to give freely and joyfully, trusting in Your abundant provision. Amen.
All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.
Acts 4:32-35
REFLECT:
Pastor Carter draws a parallel between the early church's generosity and our call to live generously today. The believers in Acts 4 were united in heart and mind, and their communal sharing was a tangible expression of their faith. This generosity was not mandated but flowed naturally from their transformed lives and deep love for one another.
Living generously is a reflection of God's character. As recipients of His grace, we are called to extend that grace to others. The early church's example challenges us to consider how we can use our resources to bless those around us.
The message encourages us to think creatively about how we can contribute to God's kingdom. Through our financial gifts, our generosity can have a profound impact. The act of giving not only blesses others but also deepens our own faith as we trust God to provide for us.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will take a bold risk as I make my commitment to All Things New.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of generosity in the early church. Help us to live with open hands and hearts, ready to give as You lead us. May our generosity reflect Your love and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
