Harvey had been in foster care for five years when he first appeared on the America's Kids Belong gallery. When Margi and Mark saw the video, they were taken aback by his youthful appearance with the old soul radiating from his eyes. "I try to be loving, caring, and protective over who I care about," he said. "There's only one life, and it's too short to waste on being miserable or angry or depressed."
Margi, who would become his mom, said that is what spoke to her. "Harvey is an incredibly deep person. He feels deeply with people. He's just incredibly empathetic and loving and caring, and he feels that within his whole heart."
Seeing the video, and knowing just a little bit about Harvey through his profile, was just a glimpse into his life, getting to know him that much more,” says his Dad, Mark. “Getting to hear his voice, hear him talk. It began to build this connection with a child that was like, ‘We can see him fitting into this home.’”
