I am getting excited as we are finishing preparations to dig into our four-week At the Movies series beginning in August. Each week we will use a recently released motion picture from which to draw a Biblical truth. This is a good way to connect the Bible to contemporary culture and a great opportunity to invite your family and friends.
Also beginning in August, we will challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and try a Home Team for five weeks; we will even help you get connected. We are training dozens of new leaders even as you read this and we want to simply ask, “If you’re not in a Home Team, would you try it for five weeks?” I’m hoping you’ll say, “Yes!” There will be an opportunity to sign up online this month or on your Connection Card during a weekend service.
Did you know that 65 percent of adults who attend Pathway are not connected to a Home Team? If you are part of that percentage, I want to encourage you to sign up for one of these new groups. In all of my years here on staff, I have yet to hear anyone say, “I sure regret being part of a Home Team.” These small groups are where people move from the crowd to a face-to-face setting and develop real friendships. It is where people learn in a real and personal way to “follow Jesus, in community, for others.”
Thank you to all who are helping us launch new Home Teams by leaving your existing group to start a new one. This will result in hundreds of new people getting connected in a real and meaningful way.
I am on study leave this July and I’m excited to get back and be with you in August!
