God Is the Owner of Everything

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, help me understand that you are the owner of all I have and of everything in the world. Amen

READ: Psalm 24:1 (NIV)

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” Psalm 24:1 (NIV)

REFLECT:

When we go to buy something, we get a receipt proving you own it. It’s the proof you could use to show it’s rightfully yours. This could be a title, a deed, or a written trust of some sort.

In the same way, everything we see is God’s creation. It’s all his. The Bible is the source of truth that tells us this. We see in the verse above in Psalm not only is the world God’s, but so are the people that live in it. We also see in the book of Haggai these words, “the silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty.’ (Haggai 2:8)

There’s a principle called “Ownership Theology” that means, everything we see and have is God’s in the first place. It's evident that the scriptures back this principle up.

APPLY:

God owns everything and it all exists for his glory. Psalm 19:1 says, “the heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” When we look outside, we are seeing God’s work, his marvelous work! Thinking like this will help us make wise decisions when it comes to finances. When we go throughout the day with this mindset of God being the owner, it causes us to be aware of how we spend our resources, we are careful with what’s not ours in the first place.

CLOSING PRAYER:

God help me to be the best steward of what you’ve entrusted me with.
