Shark Attack!
OPENING PRAYER:
Heavenly Father; show me Your love and cause Your love to grow in me. I want your love to be perfected in me. Amen
“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:8 NKJV
REFLECT:
On June 2, 2019, my cousin’s granddaughter, Paige, was swimming off the coast of North Carolina when a shark attacked her. Her father Charlie risked his life to save her by fighting off the shark with his bare hands. Because of a father’s supernatural love for his daughter, he was able to give the beast a punch that literally saved Paige’s life. Paige lost her left leg and part of her hand but lives to tell of her hero, her dad. This picture of Charlie’s love is a reflection of God’s love. It takes risks, it is strong, it moves when it’s exhausted and never gives up.
APPLY:
God is love. Because of the Lord we can exercise His true love. We have our opinions and thoughts of what we think true love looks like, but have we compared it to God’s love? Jesus’ ultimate act of sacrifice on the cross to save mankind shows a love like no-other, and in addition to that God sent His only son Jesus to accomplish this mission.
All the love in the world cannot out weight God’s love. It is pure, it is holy, and it is everlasting. God and love cannot be separated. They are one. Love led God to create the world and ultimately man and woman in His own image. Because of His love when mankind fell into sin He offered His only Son as a sacrifice for our redemption. This is an indescribable force that can only come from God. Love is a powerful thing.
As we grow closer to the Lord His love grows more and more within us. Because of God’s love we, like Charlie, will be willing to take risks and make sacrifices. It’s God’s love that motivates us to go the extra mile and reach out to those in need.
In Jeremiah 31:3 NKJV “The Lord said, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you.”
CLOSING PRAYER:
Heavenly Father; fill me with Your everlasting love. Help me to be more like Jesus and serve You every day. Amen
