Coaching in Faith
OPENING PRAYER:
Dear Lord, as we explore the role of being a faith coach, we ask for Your guidance and wisdom. Help us to see the opportunities to mentor and guide others in their spiritual journey. Amen.
Proverbs 22:6 (NIV) - "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."
This verse underscores the importance of early spiritual guidance and the lasting impact it can have on a person's life.
REFLECT:
Pastor Carter’s message this past weekend draws a parallel between coaching in sports and coaching in faith. Just as a coach guides and mentors young athletes, we are called to guide and mentor others in their spiritual journey. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us of the long-term impact of starting children on the right path. It is a call to be intentional in our efforts to teach and model faith.
Coaching in faith is not about having all the answers but about walking alongside others, encouraging them, and helping them grow. It involves creating an environment where questions are welcomed, and faith is explored together. This approach fosters a deeper understanding and a personal connection to faith.
The story of Gavin Darr, the Northwest Baseball Coach Todd interviewed this week, and his catcher illustrates the power of trust and empowerment. By allowing his catcher to call his own game, Gavin taught him to trust his abilities and make decisions. Similarly, in our faith journey, we must empower others to explore and own their faith, guiding them with love and patience.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will have a five-minute intentional conversation with a kid in my life.
Each day this week, our Daily Devotional will provide a question to help start conversations to assist with this week’s commitment.
Conversation Starter: "Who is someone you think is really kind or helpful? What do you like about how they treat others?"

CLOSING PRAYER:
Father, thank You for the opportunity to be a coach in faith. Help us to guide others with love and wisdom, empowering them to grow in their relationship with You. Amen.
