Recognizing Fear

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, as we come to reflect on Your Word, we invite Your Holy Spirit to guide us. Help us to recognize our fears and trust in Your presence, knowing that You are with us always. Amen.

READ: Psalm 56:3-4

"When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?"

REFLECT:

In this passage, the psalmist acknowledges his fear but chooses to put his trust in God. Just as the sermon highlighted, fear can seem overwhelming and hold us captive, but God invites us to trust Him. The psalmist's declaration of praise and trust reminds us that we can find refuge in God's promises even in the midst of fear. It is a powerful reminder that we can shift our focus from our fears to the trustworthy nature of God.

APPLY:

1. Take time to identify and name your fears. Write them down and offer them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His care. 2. Practice replacing fearful thoughts with affirmations of trust in God. Repeat the psalmist's words, "I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?" 3. Seek comfort and encouragement through prayer and meditation on God's promises. Reflect on Scriptures that remind you of God's faithfulness in times of fear.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will tell Jesus my fears and ask him to show me what I cannot see.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Gracious Father, we thank You for Your presence in our lives. Help us to trust in You and find courage in the face of fear. May Your peace guard our hearts and minds as we surrender our fears to You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
