Joy in Thankfulness
OPENING PRAYER:
Gracious God, open our hearts to gratitude today. May thankfulness lead us into Your presence and fill us with joy. Guide us as we reflect on Your goodness. Amen.
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
This passage encourages us to rejoice, pray, and give thanks in all circumstances, highlighting the connection between thankfulness and joy.
REFLECT:
Thankfulness is a powerful pathway to joy. Pastor Carter’s message reminded us that being thankful pushes us into the presence of God, where true joy is found. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 calls us to rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances. This attitude of gratitude aligns our hearts with God's will and opens us to His joy.
In a world that often focuses on what we lack, thankfulness shifts our perspective to what we have. It reminds us of God's faithfulness and provision, even in challenging times. As the pastor shared, thankfulness allows us to be present in God's presence, experiencing His joy in everyday moments.
Think about how thankfulness impacts your joy. Are there areas of your life where you struggle to be thankful? Consider starting a gratitude journal by writing down three things you are thankful for each day. Know that when we embrace the practice of gratitude, it leads you into the fullness of joy found in God's presence.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will confess and turn away from anything but Jesus to give me joy.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for the gift of gratitude. Help us to cultivate thankfulness in our hearts and to find joy in Your presence. May we rejoice always and give thanks in all circumstances. Amen.
