One Body In Christ

OPENING PRAYER:

Dear Lord, thank you for providing your son Jesus as a perfect sacrifice so that all of us, though imperfect, can be with you for eternity. With the way paved, help us to honor you by walking on the path together as you intended.

READ: Romans 12:4-5 (NIV)

“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Romans 12:4-5 (NIV)

REFLECT:

The simplest way I can say it is that we have never been meant to go through life alone. Whether it’s the passage above or others such as I Corinthians 12:12-13 or Acts 2:42-47, scripture is clear that as followers of Christ we are meant to do life together.

My wife and I were a part of a Home Team for about nine years. It was a commitment we shared with five other couples that, though not always easy to maintain, enabled us to grow closer to Christ, as well as be able to learn more about loving and caring for others. Our Home Team dissolved shortly before Covid arrived, which has left a void in our lives. My wife and I are now actively taking steps to find a new Home Team to join.

Lack of community going on two years has shown us how valuable and important being with other Christ-followers is as we navigate life in a broken world. Jesus died for all of us so that we can have life in him. Scripture is clear that living life to the fullest includes doing life with others. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and you will receive eternal life. Following Christ is a journey, one never meant to be done alone.

APPLY:

If you’re currently in community, such as a Home Team, that is great! Please consider whether or not your group may be open to inviting others to join you. If you’re not in community with others at this time, prayerfully consider starting or joining a group. If you’re not sure where to start, go to https://www.pathwaychurch.com/hometeams and get connected.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Thank you Jesus for sacrificing your life to pay for the sins of all mankind. Thank you also for teaching us how to live life to the fullest.
