Tell Your Story

OPENING PRAYER:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you today to learn more about you and your will for our lives. We know that in this life everyone walks with someone and we want to be intentional about whom we are walking with. Help us to be willing to share the Good News with others

READ: I Timothy 1:12-17 (NIV)

” I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. I Timothy 1:12-17 (NIV)

REFLECT:

In 1 Timothy Paul lays out a description of what a retched human he was. I don’t know about you, but his words make me want to know him more, not less. The same can be true in our lives in sharing the story of what God’s gift of saving grace has done for us. If we act like perfect humans who have it all together, it does not make others want to listen - let alone find out the source of our saving. Keep it real.

APPLY:

Have you ever written down your story, the story of when Jesus saved you? Share the good news of Jesus by telling your own story. Warts and all. That is how God is glorified.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Thank you, Jesus, for pouring out your grace on us abundantly. In our ignorance we were awful people, but by your saving grace we are changed. Help us to see how our story can reach others for you. Amen.
