Jesus Will Reveal Himself

OPENING PRAYER:

Dear Father, I come today to seek wisdom from your Word in how to walk in love with someone in need. Prepare me and give me courage as I see what you have for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

READ: John 14:21 (NIV)

“Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” John 14:21 (NIV)

REFLECT:

It has been part of my personal mission to meet with other men and help them grow in their faith. At times it has been hard and challenging. At times it has taken a while to see fruit and growth. I have been inspired by the words of 2 Timothy 2:2 – “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” It is always important to keep in mind that it is not our words that will make the difference in someone’s life. It is the life-changing words of God that truly can, and will, produce change. Our obedience to God’s commands is evidence of our love for God. As we love him, we open the door fully for God to reach us with his love for us and revelation of who he is. I am not sure that I fully understand HOW he works in and through us, but just that he does as we are obedient. It is promised in Scripture, and it is seen in and through our testimony. Paul expresses thankfulness for his partnership with others in the gospel, then he states in Philippians 1:6 “I am confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” God works and reveals himself during our walking alongside others in sharing and obeying God’s directions for our lives. We act and he shows up. In the continued learning section below there is one example where you can see his revelation in the lives of two disciples on the road to Emmaus.

APPLY:

An old hymn, In The Garden by C. Austin Miles, has a powerful chorus that goes “And he walks with me and he talks with me, and he tells me I am his own, and the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known!” God desires personal intimate relationship with us. Matthew 18:20- “For where two or three come together in My name, there I am with them.” Know without a doubt that if you as a believer in Christ, bring your walk alongside another, Jesus will be present and revealed. Get ready for some real joy!

CLOSING PRAYER:

Dear Father, reveal yourself to us as we commit to walk in your name and in obedience to your commands. We ask this in agreement with your promises. We pray also today for all of those serving in the field of education. Give them strength and wisdom and encouragement as they guide learners. We ask this through the powerful name of Jesus, Amen
