Changed by the Encounter: A New Path

OPENING PRAYER:

Gracious God, as we reflect on the aftermath of encountering Your Son, may Your Spirit transform our hearts and minds. Lead us on new paths that reflect Your love and grace. Amen.

READ: Matthew 2:11-12 (NIV)

"On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route."

REFLECT:

The Magi's encounter with Jesus was transformative. After worshiping Him and presenting their gifts, they were warned in a dream not to return to Herod. This divine intervention not only altered their physical route home but also symbolized a deeper change within them. The message highlighted that an encounter with Jesus changes us fundamentally. We cannot meet the Savior and remain the same. Todd shared stories of people in Tanzania who, like the Magi, were drawn to Jesus through dreams. These individuals, from diverse religious backgrounds, encountered Christ in ways that resonated with their personal experiences. This illustrates a powerful truth: God is not limited by our backgrounds or beliefs. He seeks those who seek Him, and He uses the stars in our lives—be it dreams, circumstances, or people—to guide us to His Son. As we journey through this season of Christmas, we are invited to consider the "star" in our own lives. What or who is God using to draw us closer to Jesus? The Magi's journey was not just a physical one; it was a spiritual pilgrimage that culminated in worship. They recognized Jesus as King, God, and Savior, offering gifts that symbolized His identity and mission. Their story challenges us to seek Jesus with the same fervor and to respond with worship and surrender.

APPLY:

Identify the "star" in your life that God is using to guide you closer to Jesus. It could be a person, a situation, or an inner prompting. Spend time in prayer, asking God to reveal how He is leading you and how you can respond in worship

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will be a star for others, guiding them to Jesus.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Lord, thank You for the example of the Magi and their journey of faith. Help us to recognize the stars You place in our lives and to follow them with courage and devotion. May our lives be a testament to Your guiding love. Amen.
