Legacy of Love

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, challenge our assumptions about what we can and cannot do in Your service. Help us see how availability to You can transform generations.

READ: Matthew 19:14 (NIV)

"Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'"

This passage reveals Jesus' special concern for children and His desire for them to have unhindered access to Him.

Matthew 19:14 (NIV)

REFLECT:

Bill's story about his youngest daughter powerfully illustrates how fostering impacts not just the children served, but transforms entire families. When she was 8, some might have worried about the "negative impact" of sharing her home with foster children. Instead, this experience shaped her into someone who, at 24, had already adopted two teenage girls.

This generational impact echoes Bill's profound statement from the message: "The greatest use of life is to spend it on something that will outlast it." His daughter's journey from being an 8-year-old sharing her home to becoming a foster parent herself demonstrates how opening our lives to God's calling creates ripples that extend far beyond our immediate impact.

The transformation wasn't just about career choice or even adoption - it was about developing a heart that reflects God's heart for the vulnerable. As Bill shared, what seemed like sacrifice actually became the source of their family's greatest blessings.

I WILL STATEMENT:

"I will defend and care for the vulnerable with my time and resources." Maybe all of this is out of your comfort zone. Take time today to write down your biggest fears or concerns about supporting vulnerable families. Pray specifically about each one, asking God to show you how He might turn those very concerns into opportunities for blessing.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Father, help us trust that when we make ourselves available to You, You can use our lives to impact generations. Give us courage to say yes to Your calling.
