The Generosity Journey
OPENING PRAYER:
Lord, as we embark on this journey of generosity, open our eyes to the opportunities around us to give and serve. May our hearts be aligned with Yours.
"Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Philippians 2:9-11 (NIV)
REFLECT:
Pastor Rodney Elliott's message emphasized that Jesus' humility and sacrifice led to His exaltation. This is a powerful reminder that God's kingdom operates on principles that often seem upside down to us. Rodney shared how his own journey of generosity, though challenging, is a path to experiencing the joy and fulfillment that comes from aligning with God's purposes.
The story of the car is a tangible example of the internal struggle many of us face. It is not just about the act of giving but about the transformation that occurs within us when we choose to let go. Rodney's commitment to sell the car and use the proceeds for God's work is a testament to the power of obedience and trust.
As we consider our own journeys, we are invited to reflect on what it means to be exalted in God's kingdom. It is not about earthly accolades or possessions but about living a life that points others to Jesus. Rodney's story challenges us to consider how our own acts of generosity can be a witness to the world of God's love and grace.
Let us take heart in knowing that as we humble ourselves and give generously, we are participating in a divine narrative that leads to eternal glory. Our acts of generosity, no matter how small, are seeds planted in God's kingdom, bearing fruit that will last.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will humble myself so God can grow more in me.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Father, thank You for the promise that as we humble ourselves, You will lift us up. Help us to trust in Your ways and to give generously, knowing that our lives are in Your hands. Amen.
